FASHION | Superga x Jonathan Jay Lee Collaboration

An original collaboration between comic book artist, Jonathan Jay Lee, and renowned Italian shoemaker, Superga, magically transforms everyday shoes into personalised hand-painted kicks with six women donned the Super Superga Girls as the main characters. Having been published by notable publications such as Marvel Comics and IdN Magazine, Jonathan's work is a mixture of both eastern and western flavours due to his upbringing in the US whilst carrying Taiwanese heritage.

Each character comes a unique personality to represent their own signature Superga shoe. Juxtaposing classic Italian and cutting-edge Hong Kong landmarks, "Supergaville" is a one-of-a-kind visual adventure, straight from the imagination of the artist.

Customers will be able to select from four different designs which will be completed in-store with acrylic paint and signed by the artist.

See below for the exclusive interview with Jonathan!

ART | Godfather of Graffiti SEEN presents solo exhibition in Hong Kong

I was thrilled when my blogging partner Jin from Style on Pottinger invited me to the vernissage of SEEN's solo exhibition at the Opera Gallery last Tuesday.
SEEN, also known as Richard Mirando, gained the respect of New York urbanites with his infamous whole train panel-pieces created together with his crew United Artists. His notoriety lies in his prolific works around town, having painted more pieces than there are billboards by the early 1980s.

[OOTD] BLACK

Yes, in my arms is a black clutch. The irony?

It's in white letters.

Anyways, it seems like I haven't posted an outfit in ages. Work has been piling up lately and it's not helping what with the slew of fashion events, interviews and a photo shoot that I've done recently with photographers Polina & Skene. In the meantime, enjoy this quick outfit that my good blogger friend Emily C from Girl Gone Vogue helped me snap.

Vogue's Fashion's Night Out 2.0: Happy Anniversary Cut & Copy!

Today's the day!

After styling a shoot with Polina & Skene of Iris Studios late last night, I've come to the climatic point where I look back at all the things that I've accomplished over the past year. I remember my first Fashion's Night Out and it was definitely a life changing moment. The connectivity, the joy and above all, the buzz were all factors that made me start fashion blogging in the first place.

For those who have been guiding/following me ever since the beginning, you'll know that this blog wasn't originally called Cut & Copy. Like everyone else who had started out, I too have changed my blog name at least once. As embarrassing as it is, 51 Shades of Fashion was a name that I used with no regrets.

Of course, with anything in life, my blog was also a huge learning process...

The Art of Hajime Sorayama: Retro-future Eroticism

Eroticism meets science fiction in Hajime Sorayama's solo exhibition at the Aishonanzuka Gallery. As an acclaimed illustration artist, Sorayama's precise and hyper realistic images are a result of his stylistic airbrush painting that "...naturally depicts minute details of human skin, lips, eyeballs, hair, even individual body hair, or the feel of leather or silk clothes, the metallicity of the robot, the reflection of light...”

With a strong focus on the female form and their sexuality, Sorayama presents a contrasting duality between the hard metallic body suits and the soft and sensual human body. With his thematic mise-en-scène that revolves around the sci-fi genre of the 70s, viewers are transported to fantasy worlds and inter-galactic travel. As a whole, his imaginary works seem to extrapolate itself from feature films of the past, not unlike Hong Kong artist Chow Chun Fai and his stylistic appropriation of popular cinema. The result is a mesmerising display of sexuality, romance and a celebration of the female figure.

Definitely an exhibition not to be missed!

Ready to Wear Spring 2013 | An Illustrative Guide

It's that time of the year again, ladies and gentlemen. With fashion week right around the corner, I can't help but feel excited once again with instant fashion show updates, crazy Instagram moments and the buzz of streetstyle celebrities.

[A confession] I've come to the point where I would practically stalk Style.com on an hourly basis so I should probably admit myself to an AA for fashion lovers, if there ever was one. To remedy my addiction (and to stop myself from getting a little too excited), I've decided to do an illustration series of the things I love on the runway.

And to start things off, click below the jump for my list of must-haves from the previous Spring collections!
