Street Style Saturday's | Maison Martin Margeila

As small as it may be, the first thing I noticed on this man was the slip of metal on his wrist. No, I wasn't dreaming... it was the coveted Maison Martin Margeila chain bracelet. If you don't already know, I'm never one to shy away from anything transparent, translucent or reflective (or in other words, weird). Call me attention-seeking but I'd much rather extravagance over subtly. Of course, given my role as a street style photographer, I get to appreciate all kinds of style no matter how it looks.

Other than the bracelet, his effortless outfit was punctuated by small yet significant details like the understated print of his Kenzo socks. It's an easy thing to miss but sometimes, a simple piece of accessory is enough to elevate an entire outfit.

[OOTD] Bunkaya Zakkaten

On me: cap Zara | eyewear RETROSUPERFUTURE | coat & satchel Bunkaya Zakkaten | shoes Fendi

I made a visit to the quirky Harakuju-based store Bunkaya Zakkaten a couple of weeks ago and found this amazing lab coat behind the cashier. Wondering why it was hidden in such a nondescript location, the manager told me it was a limited edition coat to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Feeling like I hit jackpot, I bought the coat right away.

Street Style Saturday's | The Poet in Disguise

Look carefully and the print on this gentleman's shirt is not what it seems to be. What I initially thought was a peacock feather is simply a piece of dry grass with some flowers by its side. I find it quite amusing how something so banal could appear that extravagant, especially when it comes to fashion.

It's worth emphasising that despite all the street style "peacocks" that seek to gain '15 minutes of fame', we sometimes forget that style can also be achieved with a 'less is more' attitude. At first glance, this gentleman's hat acts as a simple but effective accessory to entice passersby with modest subtlety. My eye is then drawn towards the smaller details such as his nautical style bracelet and his metal-accented monk strap shoes. Contrasted with his soft, oversized shirt and harem pants, this gentleman is a poet in disguise.

Having just finished a crazy week of preparation for my architecture review (my final exam basically), I've been looking forward to the holidays for quite a while. In a model-making frenzy that had me without sleep, writing this post was definitely a cathartic release from AutoCAD and laser cutting. Now that I'm free to spend my days under the sun, chilling with friends and catching up over creative endeavours, it's about time I come up with a "weekend" things-to-do list and snuggle up in bed with some much-needed R&R. Which leads me to the raison d'être for this post...

Street Style Saturday's | Matching in Blue

This well-dressed couple was casually enjoying an afternoon stroll on Tai Ping Shan Street and I couldn't help but notice how paired up their outfits were. I suppose it might have been their comfortable jackets that stole my attention. Upon a second look, my eyes drifted to the subtle blue accents on their outfits: a scarf for the woman and a pair of bold leather sneakers for the gentleman. Style doesn't need to be in-your-face and the couple above demonstrates that perfectly with subtlety and poise.
