FASHION | Visionaire No. 56 "Solar" x Gap UV Sensitive T-Shirt

How cool are these T-shirts?

Upon exposure to direct sunlight, these T-shirts will magically transform from black and white prints to colour using a special UV-sensitive ink. Gap is well-known for it's classic aesthetic and the humble T-shirt is definitely a good wardrobe staple to experiment with. In collaboration with NYC-based art and fashion publication Visionaire, this collection features the artwork of Alex Katz, Yoko Ono, Richard Phillips, Ugo Rondinone, Peter Lindbergh, François Berthoud, and Roe Ethridge, some of which were published in Visionaire.

STYLE | [OOTD] How to Pack for Temperate Climates

On me: t-shirt Christopher Kane | eyewear Ray Ban's | pants my old school uniform | tote bag Ã…land | watch Swatch | shoes Fendi

After a month of unrelenting showers, Hong Kong has finally experienced perfect weather, save for the humidity (or so I'm told as I'm halfway across the world as we speak). I suppose many took the liberty of finding a beach towel and some sunscreen over the weekend, lest the Sun decides to disappear once again. I, for one, certainly prefer a more temperate climate as opposed to the tropical heat back home. On that note, my three week vacation in Portugal (with a quick detour in Paris) challenged me to think of what I had to pack...

Street Style Saturday's | Rick Owen's Hi-Top Sneakers

Look at that! How can anyone possibly resist a pair of those Rick Owen's sneaker boots? The moment I laid eyes on them, I knew it was a street style opportunity too good to pass up. Even though I don't see myself getting these boots anytime soon, the least I could do is admire them through the snapshots that I awkwardly took at the IFC car park lift lobby after the J.Crew store opening party.

FASHION | Fashion Collective: House of V and Creature de Keis

I was fortunate enough to have been invited to a fashion showcase featuring design talents around Asia several weeks ago. Curated by local art gallery The Space, Fashion Collective is focused on discovering new talents that highlight contemporary Asian design.

Street Style Saturday's | Art Basel Hong Kong 2014: An Ode to Menswear

Art Basel: Hong Kong's annual art fair that gives way to a whirlwind of events and a rapid influx of art dealers, art lovers and everyone in-between. At the show itself, I noticed a curious phenomenon where everyone seemed to be in groups rather than by themselves. And there I was by myself, shooting streetstyle when it had seemed that everyone decided to become social animals. It's funny that at events like these, it seems like a taboo to go alone... (In all honesty, would you really?)

Street Style Saturday's | The Unorthodox Suit

I have to admit. Rarely do I ever see asian men pulling off double blazer jackets. The reason? We're just too damn skinny. By chance, I came across this young gentleman watching over his store at the FF Flea Market outside Rat's Cave...

FASHION | Party Monster: Club Kids of the 1980s

Image from Dazed Digital
The release of NYC party monster and murderer Michael Alig (above right) piqued my interest towards the world of uninhibited partying back in the 1980s. Known as club kids, these wild 'creatures of the night' were known for their personalities as well as their elaborate costumes. The promise of liberation and fantasy led to the formation of this youth subculture led by Alig, his longstanding partner James St James and his entourage of friends. His influence was widespread and it grew during the late 1980s, attracting like-minded individuals with a nationwide tour under his wing and clubs begging for his mere presence.

ART | David Smith: Greyscale

I've always been fascinated by the perspectives of others especially when it comes to my hometown. Irish artist David Smith explores ambiguity both literally and figuratively through his haunting and abstracted oil paintings. Based in Hong Kong, Smith's images of modern society are purposely cropped to isolate the viewer into seeing expansive spaces in a different context.

Street Style Saturday's | Denim Overalls

Looking like she came out of a Japanese animated film (My Neighbour Totoro comes to mind), Jam was casually browsing the FF flea market outside Rat's Cave on Tai Ping Shan Street. It was a glorious Saturday afternoon welcomed by many as a warm respite from stuffy weather and a godsend to this monthly street market. You have to admit overalls aren't exactly the most practical of outfits. However, it's casual appearance is a vintage throwback worthy of it's quirkiness in today's world. The word 'hipster' is practically emblazoned all over it!
