CHALAYAN F/W 2013 "Rise" @ Audi Fashion Festival Singapore

I was in for a nice treat while on holiday in Singapore as I got to meet the lovely fashion blogger Issa Tcieu and see the final show at the Audi Fashion Festival in Singapore. And of all people I got to see, the last show was one not to be missed.

Every year, Singapore gets to host the Audi Fashion Festival where upcoming designers from across the globe get invited to show. British print master Peter Pilotto showed amongst other notable fashion designers like Carolina Herrera, Tsumori Chisato and Australian evening wear specialist Colette Dinnigan. To end it all off, Hussein Chalayan was given the honour of closing the festival with his innovative Fall/Winter 2013 collection "Rise" which also showed at Paris Fashion Week.

With the moving digital graphics at the beginning of the show, I was instantly reassured of his mind-blowing technical innovations within the fashion industry with his fabric choices and sharp tailoring.  This season was heralded as a good step for Chalayan with his uncompromising attitude to experimentation that was both easy-to-wear and fashion-forward at the same time.

Take the iridescent print that mimicked electricity. Added to that was Chalayan's masterful use of shape and gentle couture-like folds giving his garments an extra dimension. Of course, who would ever think that he'd go commercial with daily staples like jeans, sweatshirts, and biker jackets? In any case however, you would see that he only does so in his own way...

Of course, who could ever forget the show stopping 'transformation' dresses below...

Thanks again Issa for meeting up with me and letting me see the show! Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with fashion blogger Issa Tcieu...

Also be sure to check out my collaborative blog with Jin Wong Style on Pottinger where I'll be posting the awesome street style shots I took before the show!
