W Hotel Hong Kong 5th Anniversary x Six Lee F/W 2013

A big congratulations is in order as W Hong Kong celebrated its 5th anniversary last Thursday with a fashion show by local menswear designer Six Lee. The W is well known for its über chic hotels around the world that attract stylish individuals with its hip interiors and fashionable events. Making sure they live to their promise, W Hong Kong's birthday bash was no less eventful with dance performances and a front row of the town's hottest stylists and celebrities.

Sitting front row in the red dress is none other than Angelababy and the general manager of W Hong Kong Peter Hildebrand.
Six Lee also debuted an exclusive T-shirt design that incorporated the W logo on the neckline.
Think ultra-luxe sportswear in a wide range of proportions for Six Lee's Fall Winter 2013 menswear collection. Hues of blue were present along with Six's skilful tailoring that reinterpreted classic male wardrobe essentials such as overcoats and the now passé cummerbund.
My favourite has to be the draped coat/poncho that reminded me of one of those classic hunting ponchos that men used to wear along with a hunting cap and a rifle. Elegant, sophisticated and definitely practical, perhaps I should consider getting myself one as well.
This evening suit jacket was given a modern makeover with this plaid pattern that goes very well with the shortened waistcoat and high waisted pants. These pants appear several times in his collection and it's a nice reference to the classic but rare cummerbund that men used to wear around their waists.
Also worth noting is the cuff/belt detail at the back of the pants which give a tailored look to the entire outfit.
Very cool eyewear that once again features the "cummerbund" pants in various size and lengths.
A friend joked to JJ that he needs to wear this "man bib" on his birthday to which he agreed. I'll be sure to get myself invited...
Also worth noting is the embroidered looking pattern that were used as a motif in Six Lee's collection.
After what felt like the end of his show, another model came down the runway but in a more relaxed attire that spoke of sportswear. The second part introduced more casual shapes and looser proportions to the collection with blue continuing to be the dominant colour. Models were decked with a visor cap that later featured an ornate rose headpiece made of a lacquered material.
To end the show, Angelababy came down the runway with a mold of the W signage which she placed on top of the 5 tiered cake. Toasts were made and champagne was served, ending the night in a flurry of confetti and a live band show by Chochukmo.

Of course, I couldn't resist posting this snap, courtesy of the W, with the fabulous people who were also there to celebrate W's 5th anniversary!
