FASHION | Behind the Scenes with Polina and Skene [Part 1]

I was given the chance to collaborate with two emerging fashion photographers Polina & Skene over the summer on a fun espionage inspired photoshoot. In a special 2 part series, this post will be a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into an editorial (blood, sweat and tears not included).
Sam, our fun and fierce model for the day, got vamped up with a sexy smoky eye for our espionage inspired photoshoot. It was definitely a good learning curve for me to try my hand at being a stylist. After all, it's not everyday that you get to do something interesting with your life...
We decided to use a wig to create a dramatic 'reveal' for one of the three outfits. Here it is on little Buddha. Something about this just makes me laugh everytime I see it.
As you can see, Sam recently dyed her hair platinum blonde so the transformation to a jet black 60s bob would help reinforce the story of a spy changing herself for another "assignment".
And of course, what would an editorial be without the clothes! I was quite fortunate to pull some strings from Club Monaco and local designer Six Lee. Fashion wholesaler Electric Sekki also gave me access to their wardrobe which consisted of renowned designers such as Sass and Bide, Chalayan and Henry Holland. I cannot thank them enough!
Who could resist taking a selfie?

It was a rather hot and humid day and I felt a little guilty for putting Sam in a winter wardrobe. In any case, a stylist should always carry around a hairbrush, hairclips, hairspray and an infinite amount of tissues for both the model and crew.
As night fell upon us, Polina and Skene took turns holding the handheld flash device to cast strong shadows for a film noir-esque effect.
I was more than happy to be a part of their team that day and it definitely felt like a job well done. Polina and Skene will post Part 2 within this week where they will be sharing the photographs on their blog at Style by Asia - an art, fashion and design blog compiled by different bloggers around Asia of which I'm also a part of. Be sure to stay tuned!
