STYLE | [OOTD] How to Pack for Temperate Climates

On me: t-shirt Christopher Kane | eyewear Ray Ban's | pants my old school uniform | tote bag Ă…land | watch Swatch | shoes Fendi

After a month of unrelenting showers, Hong Kong has finally experienced perfect weather, save for the humidity (or so I'm told as I'm halfway across the world as we speak). I suppose many took the liberty of finding a beach towel and some sunscreen over the weekend, lest the Sun decides to disappear once again. I, for one, certainly prefer a more temperate climate as opposed to the tropical heat back home. On that note, my three week vacation in Portugal (with a quick detour in Paris) challenged me to think of what I had to pack...

For someone who's concerned about appearances, it wasn't easy choosing a wardrobe for such temperate climates. Packing light is honestly not for the faint of heart. Sun, wind and rain all made an appearance which meant I had to pack appropriately. Most importantly, a chic tote bag like the one I'm carrying easily stores my camera and a jacket for the night. Interior pockets also help carry my trusty lip balm and a pair of shades, which in this case happens to be a pair of Ray Ban Aviator's.
And then there's my favourite T-shirt which I've been wearing quite often over the past few weeks... Simple yet stylish, a plaid shirt from Christopher Kane is a wardrobe staple that can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. The dark shade of plum is also rather sophisticated looking; a colour that goes perfectly with my equally-adored Fendi dress shoes.

Not to forget is a comfortable pair of pants for the long hours that one has to endure in a pressurised cabin. Despite the habit of wearing light pastels in summer, I've begun experimenting with a pair of black dress pants taken from my high school uniform. I haven't gone crazy... It's a menswear look that has appeared countless times on the runway by designers such as Raf Simons and Kris Van Assche. Just a bit of nip and tuck and my dreaded school pants instantly becomes a wardrobe staple.

Now that's what I call recycling!

  1. Hey Nick! Have a fun trip to Portugal! It's absolutely amazing. I'll be leaving to Europe too this week, but unfortunately we're on opposite ends.

Really like this look and I think it's great how you found a way to re-wear your school pants!
