STYLE | Keeping Things Casual (But Not Overly So...)

While most of us are in the midst of celebrating Mid-Autumn, it's wishful thinking to cover up those extra mooncakes with an oversized sweater. In a city that sometimes feels more jungle than urban, T-shirts and summer apparel take up the majority of our wardrobe (if not most). It's not all bad however, one being that we're occasionally allowed a weather-permitting junk trip even in October - just don't jump in the water. Morning rituals are guaranteed to be highly efficient given the rare occasion we're allowed to layer - But then again, if efficiency comes at the cost of looking 'slack', I'd rather work through the pain.

So what does one do in the heat of it all?

Find a loose fitting tee that screams casual yet not overwhelming so. Many times I fear looking a little too relaxed but the key is keeping things clean for a put together look. Though I'm more of a maximalist at heart, it's cumbersome to tastefully accessorise and mismatch prints without looking like a streetstyle whore. My friend Emily usually reminds me of Coco Chanel's advice, "Always remove one thing before you leave the house. Less is more." While I don't usually agree, a silver chain necklace will easily help balance out the long proportions of the shirt. Add a pair of fresh white sneakers and you'll be ready for anything on-the-go!
